Whether students enter our Programs straight out of high school, from another college or while pursuing a career in Occupational Therapy (OT), all Jefferson graduates are prepared for successful careers.



The Department of Occupational Therapy maintained its rank as No. 6 in the nation. The department offers programs at the master’s and doctoral-entry level and post-professional level. Students have opportunities to participate in innovative clinical, educational and research experiences on their path to becoming leaders in occupational therapy and health care.

OT Department News

This new certificate was created to provide practicing occupational therapy practitioners and other healthcare professionals with specific knowledge in design principles and a distinct skill-set in design approaches and methods that will enhance their practice and expand interprofessional collaborative opportunities.

We are committed to providing enrichment programs for undergraduate students, preparing them to apply to graduate school or pursue careers in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Training.

All Occupational Therapy Master of Science Programs and the Doctoral program are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).

ACOTE® accredited occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational programs satisfy the states’ educational requirements in all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Students graduating from an ACOTE® accredited occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant educational program are eligible to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification exam and apply for licensure in all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) Integration

On September 9, 2016, leadership from Thomas Jefferson University and Philadelphia University signed an agreement approved by both Boards of Trustees to combine the two institutions.  On July 1, 2017, the integration was made official with the announcement of the combined institution, Jefferson University.
