The College of Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) begins this semester with exciting updates in leadership and faculty appointments, reflecting the college’s commitment to innovation, scholarship, and preparing the next generation of design and construction leaders.

After decades of dedicated service to Jefferson, Lauren Baumbach has retired as Program Director and Chair of the Department of Interior Design & Interior Architecture. Stepping into the role of Interim Program Director and Chair is Martha Añez, who brings deep expertise and passion for advancing the program. Supporting the department’s continued growth, Lisa Phillips will serve as Assistant Program Director, and Anna Albrecht joins as a Visiting Assistant Professor, bringing fresh perspective and teaching experience to the classroom.

In Construction Management, CABE is proud to welcome Dr. Sorena Vosoughkhosravi, who recently earned his PhD and joins the faculty ready to share his research and insights with students.

Beyond CABE, the college also celebrates a significant leadership advancement for one of its own: Dr. Peng Du has been named Assistant Provost for Research & Scholarship on Jefferson’s East Falls Campus. In this role, Dr. Du will help shape and support research initiatives university-wide, while continuing to foster opportunities for CABE’s faculty and students.

“These changes mark an exciting chapter for our college,” said Dean Barbara Klinkhammer. “We are building on the foundation of leaders like Lauren Baumbach while welcoming new voices who will carry our programs into the future.”
