Academy for Revolutionary Creativity in Health (ARCH)
Transforming Care with a Transdisciplinary Mindset
Jefferson’s Academy for Revolutionary Creativity in Health (ARCH) is building positive health futures with business, design, engineering, humanities and social sciences.
ARCH exists to support individuals seeking engagement with diverse areas of expertise and fresh ways of thinking that extend beyond the current reality of healthcare.
Healthcare is complex and often fragmented, and a more effective, human-centered approach is possible. ARCH is for solution-driven individuals who are ready to develop the transdisciplinary skills and knowledge necessary to make meaningful change.
ARCH brings together expert scholars and visionary practitioners from the faculty of Jefferson’s Kanbar College of Design, Engineering & Commerce and Jefferson’s College of Humanities & Sciences.
The ARCH Keystone Belief:
- Human creativity is a valuable skill in healthcare.
Supporting Core Beliefs:
- Interdisciplinary collaboration leads to new ways of thinking.
- Ethics and empathy are central to effective healthcare strategy.
ARCH envisions a future where, as a standard, practitioners and scholars collaborate across many disciplines to overcome complex human health challenges. Through CME/CE and other training, special projects and educational events, ARCH champions practices, perspectives and skills drawn from design, commerce, engineering, the humanities and social science fields as essential to the future of healthcare by providing action-oriented and empowering training and thought leadership.
In doing so, we build strong new connections that offer an entryway into unprecedented healthcare futures.
Why design, business, engineering, humanities and social sciences?
When insights from these disciplines converge with expertise in health, possibilities grow exponentially, especially when creativity is a priority. Improving healthcare involves addressing complex circumstances deeply embedded in cultural, social and economic systems.
Through the lenses of design, business, engineering, humanities and social sciences, ARCH educational experiences combine human-centered design with humanistic and scientific inquiry and practice to determine what humans need and want with the strategic and tactical skills necessary to go from an idea to a value-driven reality.
A knowledge set enriched by these disciplines’ practices can mean the difference between intuitively knowing something could be better and transforming intuition into real, positive change that improves human health.
