Post-Graduate Women's Health-Gender Related Studies Nurse Practitioner
The Women's Health – Gender Related Nurse Practitioner (WHGRNP) Post-Graduate Certificate Program (PGCP) prepares graduate nurses holding a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing in the care of women throughout the lifespan across the health-illness continuum. Women's Health – Gender Related NPs practice in hospitals, labor and delivery units, outpatient clinics and primary care practices providing and managing comprehensive health care to women, as well as collaborating with the interprofessional healthcare team. NPs returning for a PGCP in an NP population-focused area in which they are not currently practicing or certified may be granted academic credit for prior didactic and clinical experiences based on a gap analysis of an applicant’s academic/practice portfolio.
Students completing the PGCP in WHGR meet the academic eligibility requirements to take the Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner Examination offered by the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Candidates who meet all eligibility requirements established by the NCC and successfully pass the examination are awarded the credential: Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC).

- Integrate and translate established and evolving disciplinary knowledge, principles, and theories from nursing and related sciences into advanced nursing specialty practice. (Domain 1)

- Evaluate and optimize relevant resources to manage change within complex systems to provide safe, inclusive, high-quality, equitable, and cost-effective health care to diverse populations. (Domain 7)
- Evaluate and incorporate information and communication technology and informatics processes in accordance with best practice and professional and regulatory standards to deliver safe, high-quality and efficient healthcare innovations that improve health equity and outcomes. (Domain 8)
- Model core professional values that integrate competency, accountability, ethical behavior, integrity, and empathetic communication into one’s advanced nursing specialty practice /role. (Domain 9)
- Utilize critical reflection to prompt personal and professional wellbeing that fosters resilience, enables lifelong learning, and supports the development of nursing leadership attributes. (Domain 10)
- Integrate relevant knowledge, principles and theories from nursing and related sciences into the advanced nursing care of individuals, families and populations. (Essential I)
