Vision
To optimize well-being and quality of life for those with autism and their families by conducting research on sensory functions in autism spectrum disorders including the neural mechanisms, assessment of sensory functions and treatment of sensory challenges in autism spectrum disorders. The Autism Sensory Research Consortium is also committed to training the next generation of clinicians and researchers who will study, evaluate and treat sensory features of autism spectrum disorder.
Mission
To accelerate the knowledge about sensory features of autism through:
- research about the neural mechanisms of sensory functions in autism;
- guiding the field in best practices for assessment of sensory features in autism;
- studying treatments for sensory features in autism; and
- translation and dissemination of new knowledge to enhance the quality of life for those with autism and their family as well as inform providers.
