Ben graduated from the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program in 2021, and now works in in Seattle, WA for GGN.
Where are you from originally?
Forest Hill, Maryland.
What was the best part of your time at Jefferson?
I really enjoyed the mix of my studies in landscape architecture with running on the cross country and track teams. Having the mix of activities provided me with a good balance of activities and changes of scenery daily. Another perk was having the Wissahickon right next to campus, it’s a great urban escape.
What has having a Jefferson degree done for you, and how has it prepared you for your career?
It prepared me to jump right into a professional landscape architecture office with confidence. The way we worked in school, collaborating with architects, interior designers and other fields greatly prepared me for how daily work in a professional environment really is.
What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?
I try and spend as much time in the mountains as possible running around, biking, skiing and sleeping on the ground. Although, this isn’t a surprise for anyone who knows me.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to our current students?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and explore what you’re interested in within your area of study. For me it was intertwining my interest in drawing and photography to ask questions and explore ideas within my landscape architecture projects.
