Laboratory practice in the medical laboratory science, cytology, and biotechnology disciplines is a hands-on job requiring a hands-on education. We provide our students with a multitude of opportunities to use the latest high-tech equipment and analytical methods, master a range of laboratory techniques, and experience the routines and rhythms of life in the laboratory.
Students in the Medical Laboratory Sciences & Biotechnology major:
- May have up to four different practicum experiences – three or four 8-hour days a week in the fall and spring, or five 8-hour days a week in the summer.
- Have the opportunity to study at one of our 50+ clinical affiliations in the tri-state area and as far as California, including major teaching hospitals, clinics, and laboratories.
- Have priority clinical opportunities at Jefferson Health System institutions.
- Assist faculty with basic science and clinical outcomes research.
