The Health Research Methods Advanced Practice Certificate (APC) is designed for students (faculty, staff and clinicians) who are seeking research skills and mentorship in study design, data collection and analysis. Students will acquire foundational skills through the three required classes (9 credits). Each student will be assigned to a research mentor who will serve as an advisor and, as needed, will facilitate connections with mentors, content experts and methodologists.

Courses can be applied toward the Master of Public Health upon successful completion.

Curriculum

Through three required courses, students will gain essential skills in:

  • PBH 504 – Fundamentals of Statistics for Research
    Learn to interpret and apply statistical methods in health research.
  • PBH 510 – Health Research Methods
    Explore the principles of designing and conducting rigorous health studies.
  • PBH 506 – Fundamentals of Epidemiology
    Understand the distribution and determinants of health-related states in populations.

This program is designed to be accessible and practical for busy professionals, offering flexible learning options and direct mentorship from experienced researchers.
