ERAS Application Information

Thank you for your interest in our program.

Our application deadline is November 1 and must be submitted via ERAS.

We conduct a holistic review of all applicants, looking through their academic performance and experiences to identify individuals who will thrive in our program. The program director and associate program directors conduct the application reviews. Our rubric includes an assessment of the following attributes that are important to our program.

  • Evidence of strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Interest in education (one of our program aims)
  • Professionalism
  • Diversity (one of our program aims)
  • Interest in the care of individuals with disabling conditions
  • Dependability/reliability

We interview approximately 100 applicants each year. Initial interview invitations will be sent via Thalamus on 10/12 at 7 p.m. EST. We will not invite more applicants than there are interview spots. If you must cancel an interview, please do so with enough notice so we can provide that time to another applicant. After the initial invites are settled, we will then offer interviews on a rolling basis starting on 10/19. On 11/5, we will notify the remaining applicants about placement on the wait list or if we will be unable to offer an interview.

Items required for the ERAS application include:

  • Completed application form
  • Current C.V. clearly explaining any time gaps
  • Medical College Transcript
  • Three letters of recommendation:  at least one letter must be from a PM&R (Rehabilitation Medicine) Physician.
  • Dean's Letter
  • USMLE scores
  • Personal Statement
  • One photograph

Interviews

We conduct interviews on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Each applicant is in a group with four other applicants. You’ll first hear a presentation by the program leadership and chief residents. Each person will then interview with the program director, two faculty members, and one resident. We conduct hybrid interviews with a mixture of standardized and non-standardized questions. Each interview is 20 minutes in length. You’ll have a 10-minute break after two interviews. The entire interview experience takes a touch over 2 hours. Our interview rubric includes an assessment of our standardized questions and continued focus on the attributes listed above. Please note that preference signaling will not impact our ranking at the end of the recruitment season.

Thank you again for your interest in our program. If you need any additional information, please contact our Thomas Jefferson University Hospital PM&R Residency and Education Coordinator:
