Each year, we are proud to accept two of the brightest, future MFM leaders into the Thomas Jefferson University Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Fellowship.

Learn why our fellows chose Thomas Jefferson University for their MFM fellowship and what inspires them as they pursue their passion for helping others through medicine.

Sophie Green, MD - FEL1
Indiana University School of Medicine OBGYN Residency

Kavisha Khanuja, MD - FEL1
Thomas Jefferson Univeristy Hospital OBGYN Residency

Sarah Boudova, MD  - FEL2
Indiana University School of Medicine OBGYN Residency

The primary reason I chose Jefferson MFM was because of the focus on research and scholarship.  I know that I want a career in research and academic medicine and Jefferson has a strong record of training leaders in the field. I was particularly drawn to the opportunity to do global health research as part of my fellowship training. Having two fellows per year was another appeal of the program-- it means there is a community of fellows and always someone to ask for help/advice/nerd-out with about obstetrics/meet for happy hour. I could not ask for a better group of co-fellows. Finally, I was very excited to be coming to Philadelphia.  It's a great city to live in, with incredible restaurants, arts, culture and nearby nature.

Keely Robinson, MD - FEL2
Abington Hospital - Jefferson Health OBGYN Residency

I chose Jefferson because I knew it would provide a strong clinical experience with exposure to both maternal and fetal pathology, as well as a high volume of procedures. Additionally, I knew it was a place full of excellent mentorship with support and encouragement to pursue my areas of passion. And last but certainly not least, I loved the fellows and knew they were a group that would quickly become like family.

Kathryn Ruymann, MD - FEL3
Abington Hospital - Jefferson Health OBGYN Residency

I chose Jefferson because there is sense of belonging within the MFM Division that was undeniable. As a visiting resident in my third year, I could tell that TJUH was a place I where I could learn, grow, and be challenged personally and professionally.  I saw how the MFM faculty genuinely cared about the fellows as people and respected their opinions as colleagues.  I loved that I had all surgical opportunities open to me with high volume of cerclages, placenta accretas, PUBs, CVS, and amnios.  It is also so nice to have a buddy (aka a co-fellow).

Neel Iyer, DO - FEL3
Cooper University Hospital OBGYN Residency

I chose Jefferson because of the amazing mentorship and diversity of clinical experiences available. After rotating here as a visiting resident, I saw how much the fellows are exposed to in terms of both maternal and fetal pathology, as well as, the variety of procedures they are involved in from robotic-assisted abdominal cerclages to PUBS. The faculty are amazing mentors and providing a tremendous amount of clinical and research support. Plus Philadelphia is a great city to live and work in!
