Health Sciences at Thomas Jefferson University prepares compassionate, talented and hard-working professionals who are prepared for direct entry into the healthcare workforce or continued education in graduate or professional programs. Have opportunities to complete for-credit internships in emergency rooms, physician’s offices, rehabilitation facilities through a Global Medical Brigade mission trip to Africa or Central America. Health Sciences BS/ Athletic Training MS (3+2) at Thomas Jefferson University enables you to earn both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years through our accelerated dual degree program. During your education you will have opportunities to gain a strong medical and science foundation and the specialized knowledge, skills and best clinical interventions required for athletic training practice. Health Sciences BS/ Community Trauma Counseling MS (3+2) at Thomas Jefferson University enables you to earn both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years through our accelerated dual degree program. Learn to improve the lives of trauma survivors through advanced clinical trauma competency with courses in human sciences and psychology. Health Sciences, BS/Couple and Family Therapy, MFT at Thomas Jefferson University prepares students on how to help individuals, couples, families and others with the stresses of family life. Students in this program are guaranteed an interview for the two-year MFT program on the Center City campus. Marriage and family therapists address behavioral and emotional problems in family relationships. This program offers two specialty tracks – Family Therapy and Sex Therapy. Both serve to develop a deep understanding of some of today’s most pressing clinical issues. The Sex Therapy track requires two advanced courses in sex therapy, while the Family Therapy track requires advanced coursework in medical family therapy and family violence. Each has specific practicum opportunities that bolster student learning.

At Jefferson, you can earn both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years through our dual degree program, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Biotechnology, Cytotechnology and Cell Sciences, or Medical Laboratory Science. As a student in the accelerated BS/MS program, you will build strong skills in critical thinking and problem solving through foundation courses in basic sciences and humanities offered on the East Falls campus (pre-professional curriculum) and program-specific coursework on the Center City campus (professional curriculum). Our three distinct programs prepare laboratory professionals for careers in medical laboratory sciences. Throughout your chosen program, you will experience cutting-edge training with nationally recognized faculty.

Health Sciences BS/ Occupational Therapy OTD (3+3) at Thomas Jefferson University enables you to earn both your bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in six years through our accelerated dual degree program. This program prepares students who know early that they want to be occupational therapists to be compassionate, talented and hard-working professionals. Practice clinical skills in state-of-the-art facilities, earn patient contact hours through a Global Medical Brigade mission trip to Africa or Central America, and collaborate with students from industrial design and architecture to develop assistive devices and create environments to support people’s full participation in everyday activities.

The nationally-recognized physician assistant (PA) program boasts a 96% pass rate on the PANCE national certification exam over the last 5 years, and is known for educating excellent, compassionate and dedicated professionals. You will prepare for clinical rotations in our simulation lab that allows you to practice examinations; take courses in genetics, microbiology, histology, physical diagnosis and gross anatomy (cadaver dissection) labs; and complete a full year of clinical rotations in hospital and outpatient settings.

Health Sciences, BS/Public Health, MPH at Thomas Jefferson University provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills for public health practice. Public health is an interdisciplinary field of study and practice with two primary goals – the prevention of illness, disease, and injury and the promotion and protection of human health. Students in this program can complete up to five public health graduate courses in their senior year. They are guaranteed an interview for the MPH program on the center city campus. MPH students develop competencies in several key public health areas, preparing them to track outbreaks of disease, conduct community health assessments, plan health education programs and direct campaigns to reduce risk factors.

Pre-Medical Laboratory Sciences and Biotechnology at Thomas Jefferson University enables students to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years through our accelerated dual degree program, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Biotechnology, Cytotechnology and Cell Sciences, or Medical Laboratory Science. Graduates of the Cytotechnology and Cell Sciences program have had a 100% pass rate on the ASCP Board of Certification exam for the past three years. The Biotechnology program now offers a BS and MS in Biotechnology with a concentration in Biopharmaceutical Process Development at the Jefferson Institute for Bioprocessing—the only training and education institution of its kind in North America. The Medical Laboratory Science program continues to have 100% job placement rate after graduation.

Pre-Pharmacy at Thomas Jefferson University builds strong skills in critical thinking and problem solving through foundation courses in the sciences and humanities during your first two years of coursework. After Year 1, students can apply for admission consideration to the four-year PharmD program. Students who meet progression criteria are guaranteed an interview for the competitive PharmD program. Matriculating students enter the professional phase of study beginning in Year 3, and are prepared to be a confident, knowledgeable pharmacists through hands-on training in a premier health system with nationally-recognized faculty.
