What's Industrial Design like at Jefferson?

Prospective students of all kinds come to visit our studios. New faces can be seen everywhere – learning, watching, considering if Thomas Jefferson University Industrial Design is the place for them. We welcome anyone considering this question, grad or undergrad, to come and see firsthand what we do here. Come for a tour, chat with our faculty, partner with a student and see what a typical day is like.

We realize that not everyone has that luxury, though. For those who can’t stop by, we’ve assembled several videos below that offer a glimpse into the Jefferson Industrial Design program.

Sprint Project Industry Partner 2025: Streamlight

Our industrial design students look forward to the industry sponsored Sprint Project, where students on all levels of the program design and pitch a new product for a company where our alumni work — all in a single week! In 2025, our students partnered with Streamlight to design an under-hood automotive light.

Symphony of Light | Documentary Short Film (ft. Lyn Godley)

Multimedia artist and Professor Lyn Godley, along with Industrial Design students, used research and collaborated with scientists to design an exhibit that combines specific wavelengths and imagery to map onto the walls of an otherwise plain school chapel.

Sprint Project Industry Partner 2023: SharkNinja

In 2023, our students collaborated with Eric Holzer of SharkNinja to design original and innovative household appliances for the Sprint Project.

Freshman Experience

Students share their thoughts and concerns, as well as what drew them to enter the Industrial Design program and how they quickly became inspired, collaborative and tapped into their creativity.

Industrial Design Students aim to Create Neurodiverse Furniture

In collaboration with Jefferson’s Center for Autism & Neurodiversity, Industrial Design students developed a chair that fosters comfort and wellbeing for neurodiverse and anxious patients.
