Student Organizations
As a Thomas Jefferson University fashion design student, your immersion into the industry doesn't have to stop at the end of class. Fashion focused extra-curricular activities allow students to delve deeper into whatever aspect of the fashion industry interests them, anywhere from design to merchandising to retail. These groups are responsible for hosting a multitude of fashion related events, such as lectures, dinners, movie nights, pop-up shops, photoshoots and even a fashion show on our East Falls campus.
Designers Supporting Designers
Designers Supporting Designers (DSD) provides student designers with a one-on-one space to grow and connect with one another. This group is open to students in any design discipline, and seeks to connect students throughout the academic years by offering mentorship opportunities with upper-level students. DSD is responsible for organizing a number of activities on campus, including pop-up shops, fabric swaps, student expositions, and much more.
Fashion Industry Association
The Fashion Industry Association (FIA) is a co-curricular campus organization for students interested in the fashion industry. Students from design, merchandising, textile and other academic backgrounds come together to discuss current industry happenings. Guest speakers, industry workshops, movie nights and volunteer opportunities are organized by this group to give students an opportunity to network with fashion industry professionals. Members of this organization also have the opportunity to help with fashion events within the Philadelphia and New York regions. FIA is responsible for backstage organization and preparations for the Jefferson Annual Fashion Show.
Black Retail Action Group
Thomas Jefferson University's Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) is one of nine chapters nationwide. This non-profit organization prepares and educates professionals, entrepreneurs and students of color for executive leadership in retail, fashion and related industries. For more than 40 years, the organization has been fulfilling their mission through workshops, networking events, speaking engagements, scholarships and summer internship programs.
Fashion Concepts Club
The Fashion Concepts Club (FCC) is a co-curricular fashion organization highlighting fashion photography and publication. Each semester, FCC chooses a theme and designs an editorial fashion photoshoot inspired by it.
