Program Director, Health Data Science
Jefferson College of Population Health is recruiting a full-time faculty member to serve as the Director of the College's Health Data Science programs. The Program Director will have the opportunity to elevate this degree program to greater success by developing innovative partnerships with private industry, professional societies, and other universities; further integrating Jefferson’s business intelligence and advanced data science capabilities into program offerings; mentoring the next generation of health data scientists and leaders; and directing and collaborating on externally funded research projects. The Program Director may also have the opportunity to oversee the development of a new enterprise-wide Center for Population Health Intelligence. Although all research and practice backgrounds will be considered, candidates with expertise applying advanced data science techniques to identifying and reducing health disparities and health inequities are particularly encouraged to apply. This is an open rank and open track search. The selected candidate will receive a full-time faculty appointment in the College at a rank and track commensurate with their credentials.
Major Job Duties
The Program Director will work with other faculty, College leadership, staff, students, and alumni to strengthen the College’s academic programs through excellence in teaching, research, and service, and be an active citizen of the College and University. Specific job duties include:
- Managing all aspects of the Health Data Science program, including recruitment, enrollment management, curricular changes, course schedules, teaching assignments, learner mentorship, and academic advising;
- Providing training, research mentorship, and supporting research projects for post-doctoral trainees;
- Participating on assigned College and University committees;
- Leading or collaborating on externally funded research and publishing and presenting research findings in peer-reviewed scholarly journals and scientific venues; and
- Performing other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications for this position include:
- Being learner-centered, collegial, and collaborative;
- Successful experience teaching health data science topics at the advanced or graduate level;
- Track record of externally funded research and scholarship commensurate with desired faculty rank and track; and
- Strong technical training and a terminal degree in a field related to population health and/or health data science (i.e., PhD, ScD, DHSc, DrPH, MD, DO, PharmD, etc.). Candidates without a terminal degree will also be considered.
