Notes – “Note Policy”
Thomas Jefferson University requires students to attend classes. Student Health Services - Center City can confirm that you were seen for a medical issue, but they cannot provide excuse notes for missed classes, rotations or exams. Student Health Services also cannot provide documentation after the fact or for illnesses SHS-CC did not treat.
It is the student’s responsibility to communicate with professors, preceptors or Student Affairs about absences due to illness or injury. Student Health Services - Center City does not send notes or medical information to faculty or university offices.
For any questions about attendance, excuses or disability needs, students should contact their Student Affairs office.
ADHD Treatment
Student Health Services - Center City does not diagnose, nor treat ADHD, and it does not provide prescriptions for stimulants. Please continue to follow up regularly with your existing treatment provider. If you need to establish care near campus, a list of psychiatrists via referral to the Student Counseling Center will be provided. Please be aware of insurance coverage and scheduling times associated with outpatient psychiatric care.
Controlled Substances
Student Health Services - Center City does not provide prescriptions for opiates or benzodiazepines. Students with conditions that require such prescriptions will be referred to their outside primary care providers, or the appropriate specialists including the emergency room, psychiatry, sleep medicine, or pain medicine. Student Health Services - Center City cannot provide refills of prescriptions from outside providers for controlled substances cannot be provided.
