Elizabeth Sottung, PharmD

Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) Fellow

Otsuka

Elizabeth Sottung earned her PharmD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2025. During her academic career, she actively engaged in research alongside faculty members, an experience that sparked her passion for scientific inquiry. She coauthored two peer reviewed publications: one exploring the pharmacist's role in addressing the opioid crisis through a public health lens;  and another focusing on pharmacist-led deprescribing of opioids and benzodiazepines in older adults. Her interest in HEOR began during a two-year internship at Johnson & Johnson, which she completed concurrently with her pharmacy studies. During this time, Elizabeth played a key role in developing external communication materials that translated recent real-world evidence (RWE) findings into actionable insights for healthcare professionals, supporting informed treatment decisions. Through the Otsuka Fellowship, Elizabeth hopes to build upon her foundational experiences by deepening her expertise in real-world evidence generation, health outcomes analysis, and value-based healthcare.
